I’m really in no mood.

This game, with the most lopsided teams since Stats made the teams on September 4, was over before there were two outs.  Kurt’s one-out double (the first of his 10 hits today) was followed by 4 straight singles and another Mosser double, for a 3-0 lead, top of the first.

Glen Cebulashed his fifth home run to lead off the bottom of the first.  This constituted both the beginning and the end of the home team comeback.  The homeboys would manage only five more hits the rest of the way.

Kurt would slug the other two of his four RBI on the day in the seventh with triples in consecutive at-bats, after Hansoo’s lead off single.  Matt gave up all five runs, adding 0.7 to his ERA.

Notes:
  • With maybe three games left, Mosser has surely put the batting title in the bag.  10-for-15 today raising his average to 0.456.  He even found his slugging stroke - 4 doubles and 2 triples!  Nice to face Lindsay, I guess.
  • Glen’s leadoff homer evened the home run race at 5.  Look for Berwald and Cebulash to be swinging for the fences the rest of the season, as both men detest ties.
  • Today’s 2-on-2 game was played with 2 out innings, to save arms.  Each pitcher recorded 8 outs total, though some were more efficient than others.  Kurt faced 8 batters total, Hansoo 14, Glen 12 and Matt 19.
  • The two best players to play today were made one team the the two worst made the other.  Once again, in the absence of the Commish, the players are unable to create a balanced game.  On dates where Peter is not playing he should be consulted via mobile phone to decide the teams.  No one else seems capable.

  1. Phlegmatic.

I should have caught Glen's ball. I hang my head in shame.

  2. Glen and Hans vs. Kurt and Matt, that would be the way to split up the teams. Ugh, I can't leave my flock unshepherded!

  3. In an ironic twist, Kurt thought that his team batted out of order, but in fact they did not.

  5. There once was a man from Wiltshire
Whose game just couldn’t catch fire
He was earnest at the plate
    But pitching sealed his fate
And his ERA went higher and higher.
