"This is the way the season ends, this is the way the season ends, this is the way the season ends-
not with a bang, but a whimper"
Well, ball-fans, I'd like to report, as I have so many times in the past, about my superlative play, but alas, in good conscience, I cannot. It was a day, so reminiscent of that first, fateful game of the season, when my ERA went rocketing through the roof. Nine innings of regulation ball yielded 14 runs, all on my watch. My two teammates, who will remain nameless out of respect for their privacy, played valiantly but were unable to mount a credible offense to counter what can only be described as the "massacre on the mound". The opposing players, whose names escape me at the moment, played particularly well and were able to capitalize on my mistakes despite the abnormally LARGE LEVELS OF ESTROGEN COURSING THROUGH THEIR VEINS!!! Oh yeah, Brian "The Phoenix" Simpson and Pete "Eagle Eye" Berwald were their names. Blah, blah, blah - they scored a lot of runs. Whatever! Baseball season's over. Next week, Saturday, 9:00, flag football, Smith School park. Bring some sac!
